The “Compass for the Future” program of Hörby City also aims to ensure that all elementary school students are given ample opportunity to address any queries about their studies and future career prospects. For primary school students years 4-6, study visits to local enterprises is part of the curricula. Hörby Bruk always looks forward to visits from the city’s primary school students. Every school year, all fifth graders in Hörby city receive a hearty welcome at Hörby Bruk. During these visits, we present our business model, describe the basic operations of a commercial company, and explain how products are made. The idea is to create in children, early on, an interest in technology and industry so that they take this spark with them into their futures.

A couple of times every year, we hold week-long trainee and taster days for students from the city’s secondary schools to acquaint them with the operations of a company. Students acquire insights into the different parts of the business, and as a company we get the opportunity to explain our business model up close, which in the long term can potentially promote our sourcing of local talent and competence.
